If I recall from an F150, which I'd asssssssume works similarly to other Ford offerings, the top "speed" for HDC is 10 or 12 MPH. Which is pretty fast down a steep grade. The HDC system does the braking for you, using ABS and traction control to shift the brake pressure to the wheel(s) that needed it, allowing driver to focus only on steering.
